Antique Zippo 101
There are dozens of antique Zippo lighters made by the Zippo Manufacturing Company. They come in huge variety of materials, styles and colors. Anyone interested in having a classy and distinctive Zippo lighter would do well do investigate the many antique Zippos available.

An antique Zippo is especially beautiful when it is made out of silver. The antiqued silver creates a strong impression as tiny areas of tarnish enhance the designs on the lighter case.
Colors of Antique Zippo lighters:
With the antiquing process the color of the lighter case material is taken from bright and shiny metallic to a rich and aged glow. The finishes can appear to be the result of an old metal finish that has been subject to the action of oxidation. This oxidation look makes the metals look slightly mottled or misted by time.
Colored cases can also be given an antique look. Just like anything that ages and shows changes in surface texture and color, a colored antique Zippo case shows a rich spectrum of graduated color and apparent change in texture. The more intricate, detailed and curvilinear designs provide a fine palette for the antiquing process. Designs with filigree, deep etching, or low and high contours can be beautifully antiqued. More modern designs with simple, angular patterns are less likely to have an antique finish. Also many antique Zippos have emblems that come with an antique finish. These emblems can embody any of the thousands of subjects that Zippo uses, but those emblems embodying timeless themes are the most effective. Antique Zippos can often be found with those designs that reflect a spiritual, religious, or historical theme. Also, replica Zippos will use antique finishes to evoke the look and feel of some the first Zippos produced.
