Where can I find a Illinois state or Federal funded healthcare that will take pre-existing conditions?
I am 23 and healthy. Well almost. I went into the doctor on Monday for a bad cold and found out today that I have thyroid cancer. I have no insurance and no income. I have already cleared out my college tuition account to pay medical bills this week. Where I was working closed and I have been helping take care of my father’s house cleaning and such. Well now I am in a bad situation and no clue what I need to do. Can someone please help find what I need to do. I found www.illinoiscovered.org but can’t find anything that would cover me. I live near Elgin, IL.
No private insurance will ever cover you if you’ve been diagnosed with cancer. The only thing you can try to do is to apply for Illinois Medicaid. They will retroactively cover your bills up to 60 days. http://www.hfs.illinois.gov/
The federal government only offers Medicare, and you wouldn’t qualify.
