Secrets For Getting Rid Of Flab And Toning Your Body

Every one of us, from time to time, gets involved in a program of fitness and weight loss because we’ve checked ourselves out in a mirror and decided we could be so much more. So what happens? We lose all sorts of weight and are left with unsightly masses of flabby, sagging skin. Flab is a temporary condition – if you follow these tips, you shouldn’t have too hard a time getting rid of it.

If your recent weight loss was fairly rapid, you need to understand that there’s a good chance that at least some of the weight you lost was muscle mass. This is not the situation you wanted to be in. For one, even though you may find yourself at your target weight, you may still have a high percentage of body fat.

If you’ve reached your target weight but still have a good amount of flab, keep in mind that a pound of muscle occupies far less space than a pound of fat, and that your flab is probably caused by excess body fat.

You Are What You Eat

Your nutritional intake while losing weight of monumentally important. Fruits and vegetables should comprise the vast majority of your diet. Fruits and vegetables contain a good mix of natural vitamins and sugars, as well as dietary fiber, which will help flush the toxins from your body and promote your skin’s elasticity.

Also, beware phony “health foods.” They’re advertised as being good for you, but the advertising is a lie. The package will have a nutrition label on its side – take a moment and look it over. If you see a lot of sugar or high fructose corn syrup, don’t get it, this stuff is essentially poison that is no good for you.

Make sure you drink plenty of water as well. Water is great for washing the toxins out of your body. Without sufficient water, your body will become dehydrated. When a body is becoming dehydrated, it recognizes the situation as one of extreme danger, and will trigger a survival mechanism called “starvation mode.” Burning muscle cells for energy because they take more energy than fat to maintain, a body in starvation mode will store every bit of fat as it possibly can. Paradoxically, then, someone trying to get rid of flab but not drinking enough water, might actually be promoting the destruction of muscle cells and the accumulation of more fat cells! That’s why you should brink your eight glasses of water daily.

You can Get Rid of that Flab with Exercise – Here we go again!

Now, exercise is really your only option for getting rid of excess body fat and replacing it with lean muscle. Dieting your way out of flab isn’t really a viable option.

You need to continue exercising to burn off the excess fat. Another goal of your exercise will be to build some lean muscle mass. As you build muscle, it will burn fat deposits off your body, reducing the appearance of the flab. Exercising your new muscles will tone them and help sculpt your body to enhance its appearance.

Your body won’t work as hard if it gets used to your exercises, so you should change them periodically. More important, though, is to develop a plan of exercise that you’ll actually follow. If 5 days a week at the gym is unrealistic for you, don’t set up an exercise routine that requires that you visit the gym 5 times a week. If it’s more realistic to set yourself a standard of going to the gym two or three times a week, fine – do that.

It’s simple, really – all you need to do to get rid of flab and tone up your body is exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet! The sagging skin is, for the most part due to extra fat deposits on your body that still need to be burned off.
