Experience with Pancreatic problems in older dog?
My elderly 11yrs) male Cocker Spaniel has been slowly over the last few
yrs showing signs of declined appetite. For
the last 5 mths I’ve been home cooking human quality chicken breast & root veggies stewed up & served with calcium citrate, kelp, flax seed oil or hemp oil. His weight is probably slight for his size so he doesn’t have a lot to loose as he increasingly is loosing his appetite. Supplements given before
his meal are Pancreatin 4X & Tpan pancreas formula by Genestra.
BUT being so in love with him as I am & knowing he is slowly withering away not to
mention if he is in pain…he doesn’t display that he is…but what else can
I do in his probably last few months of his life.
I don’t trust his vet anymore as she has does little to help so far (other than sell me Waltham food for sensitive gut)…so I’m on my own. Help anyone who may have similar experience with this disease.
Have you tried going to a different veterinarian? Perhaps one with a bit more experience, or a lot more experience then your current veterinarian? Your dog’s condition is serious, even I can tell that, and I’m no veterinarian. Ask your vet if she knows another vet that may be able to help you, or you can ask her to do a more thorough exam. But then again, as you said, your dog is actually pretty old in dog years. It may be something due to his age. Anyways, best of luck to you, and I hope your dog gets better!
