Enjoying the Dates While You Search for “The One and Only” Man

Fun date ideas for a gay male are not too different from those a straight woman might recommend.

One of the most nerve-racking things about your search for that special relationship, gay or straight, is the dating process. However, the dating process can also be, and should be, one of the most exciting parts of finding the right man. Dating can seem dull at times because too often we resort to the classic dinner and a movie idea. Dinner and a movie can be a great date, but why not switch it up a bit and really wow that prospective Mr. Right? Here are a few entertaining suggestions you can use when planning your next date, whether it’s the first date or yours and his weekly date night.

1. A great date proposal is going for a round or two of miniature golf. Mini-golf is a great way to participate in an invigorating (without being strenuous) activity but still have a meaningful conversation. Golfing is an intimate enough game in that will let you to get to know one another while not just sitting in a restaurant. Whether you’re great at the sport or not, teasing each other over your skills or lack thereof is a great way to lighten things up and get off to a casual start. Just be certain to leave your overly competitive side at your house.

2. If you live around a downtown area, a terrific date is to go for a night on the town. A major downtown area always has plenty of different activities to do. Whether you’re going in and out of stores, or walking through the park, the environment around you will provide for a great time, and some great memories. The exciting atmosphere of the town will also stimulate lots of creative conversation, and is a terrific way to learn about each other. You may even do something that’s unique to the city, such as a stage performance, check out the skyscrapers, or go to the pier.

3. If both of you are the outdoorsy and energetic type, why not try a little rock climbing? There is probably somewhere nearby where you can safely do a bit of climbing. Exercise is an ideal way to ease some of the tensions that a date early in your relationship might provide. Most areas have commercial (if a little fake) climbing venues.

4. Ice skating is always a great date. Ice skating makes for a very fun time, especially if you don’t know how. There’s nothing like holding onto each other to keep from falling over. Being shaky on the ice is a great means to flirt and act cute with one another, and will always (excuse the pun) break the ice when you’re getting to know someone.

Dating ought to be an exciting part of being in or starting a fresh relationship. Building a social dating environment is important in order to get to know the other person. After all, you might not always remember that sub-par movie you watched, but you’re sure to remember the enjoyment of any of these more creative date ideas.
